In the heart of North Center, Chicago, the owners of Burning Bush Brewery have expanded their offerings with the opening of Feather & Tail, a cocktail and darts bar. Located at 4020 N. Rockwell St., this new addition is accessible through a distinctive blue Chesterfield-style door at the rear of the brewery.
A Unique Social Space
Feather & Tail is designed as a modern speakeasy by Brent Raska and Michael Decker of Holiday Weekend Hospitality. The space, though not large, is rich in detail, featuring custom millwork on dartboards and a meticulously crafted bar. The decor includes wallpaper with illustrations of classic cocktails, accented by vintage Schlitz-globe lights and custom shelving.
Raska and Decker aimed to create a space that balances the refined craft of a cocktail lounge with the lively atmosphere of a neighborhood bar. The cocktail menu reflects this vision, offering playful options like the gin-based Hall & Oats and the White Russian Collins, humorously named Stay Out Of Malibu Lebowski.
Craft Cocktails and More
The bar emphasizes precision in cocktail-making, ensuring consistency in ingredients and preparation. In addition to cocktails, the menu includes wine, low and non-alcoholic beverages, and beers from Burning Bush. Guests can also enjoy snacks like shrimp cocktail and a crab dip charcuterie board.
Feather & Tail also features games such as a custom shuffleboard table and a state-of-the-art digital darts game, which offers both traditional and modern dart games.
Expanding the Riverside Campus
Raska and Decker have been developing their riverside campus since opening Burning Bush in 2020, followed by the River Room event venue in 2023. Feather & Tail adds to their portfolio, providing a space for date nights and smaller gatherings. The brewery’s family-friendly atmosphere complements the more adult-oriented vibe of the new bar.
Despite economic challenges faced by other breweries, Raska and Decker have continued to grow, with their ventures employing around 46 people. Their success is attributed to creative risk-taking and a focus on guest enjoyment.
