The FDA recently launched the PreCheck Pilot Program, designed to clear hurdles that stall new manufacturing facility builds in the US. This program operates in two phases: the Facility Readiness Phase, where manufacturers receive technical and regulatory feedback before operations begin, and the Application Submission Phase, which features enhanced FDA engagement to quickly resolve manufacturing questions and fast-track inspections.
By identifying potential issues early, the PreCheck program reduces delays, improves regulatory predictability, and accelerates the availability of US-manufactured medicines. This ensures next-generation medical breakthroughs are researched, developed, and manufactured in the US, leveraging the extraordinary talent and grit of the American workforce.
Domestic Manufacturing Renaissance
The FDA is working with seven corporate participants, including Eli Lilly, Regeneron, and Amneal, as they break ground and scale operations. These companies are building state-of-the-art facilities to manufacture innovative cell and gene therapies, as well as everyday IV bags. The first seven participants alone will anchor thousands of long-term, high-wage careers for American scientists, engineers, technicians, and operators.
