Fayetteville Public Schools is preparing for the upcoming school year with new classroom guidelines focused on how students use technology. District staff gathered at Fayetteville High School for the annual convocation, where leaders shared priorities for the year ahead, including updated screen guidelines for students in kindergarten through sixth grade.
Shift to Traditional Learning Tools
Superintendent Dr. John Mulford said students may see a shift toward more traditional learning materials, including textbooks and worksheets. The district’s updated guidelines set limits on classroom screen time by grade level, with younger students having fewer minutes compared to older elementary and middle school students.
The convocation also gave staff a chance to celebrate before students return, featuring prizes, performances from the Ramay Junior High choir and appearances from former students. Chris Michaels, Ramay Junior High choir director, said the event helps teachers prepare for the moment students return to the classroom.
Fayetteville students return to school Aug. 11.
