Fayette Airport will receive $5,409 in grants to support improvement projects. The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) awarded the funds as part of its Alabama Airport Improvement Funding Program.
Grant Details
The grant will be split between two projects: $3,476 for the installation of perimeter fencing and $1,933 for hangar building construction. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is also providing additional grants of $132,107 and $73,471 for these projects, respectively.
According to Frank Farmer, bureau chief of ALDOT’s Aeronautics Bureau, ‘Safe, reliable airport facilities require continued investment. These grants will help local airports address important needs and maintain facilities that pilots, businesses, and communities can depend on.’
The Alabama Airport Improvement Funding Program was established to assist airport owners with the planning, construction, and maintenance of aviation facilities. ALDOT may also provide engineering and technical support as needed for approved projects.
Richard Arthur Field, the city-owned airport in Fayette, has a 5,009-foot runway and several private aircraft based there. The city manages fixed base operations at the airport.
