A car fell 200 feet over the side of Willow Springs Trail in Los Padres National Forest, resulting in one fatality. The accident occurred just after 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Santa Barbara County Fire crews, along with personnel from San Luis and Santa Maria Fire, responded to the scene to find the deceased.
An extensive search is ongoing for any additional passengers who may have been in the car. Highway 166 is currently reduced to one open lane, and drivers are advised to use alternate routes or avoid the area if possible.
