Fast food chains have started rolling out value deals in an effort to win back customers who have been deterred by rising prices. McDonald’s has been at the forefront of this trend, introducing a series of value platforms over the past two years. Other chains, such as Checkers & Rally’s, Wendy’s, Pizza Hut, and Taco Bell, have also launched their own value deals.
Value Deals Across the Industry
Checkers & Rally’s has introduced a bundled meal deal that includes a choice of a Loaded Tender Wrap, Spicy Chicken Sandwich, or Classic Burger, paired with fries, chicken bites, and a drink. Wendy’s has offered a limited-time discount on its Frosty dessert, while Pizza Hut has launched a Throwback Value Menu that includes classic items like a Stuffed Crust pizza and breadsticks. Taco Bell has also introduced a Luxe Value Menu with lower-priced items like a Fresca Pepper Jack Steak Burrito.
The cost of eating away from home has increased significantly over the past few years, with prices rising 8.3% in the year ending December 2022. Although the rate of increase has slowed down since then, it still remains higher than it was before the price surge began. The introduction of value deals by fast food chains is an attempt to get price-sensitive customers back in the door without actually rolling back costs to their previous levels.
