In Gilbert, Arizona, the family of Rachel Hansen is still seeking justice and answers four years after her tragic death. Rachel, a vibrant 19-year-old, was shot in her apartment near San Tan Village Parkway and Ray Road on June 4, 2022. Despite her call to 911 reporting an intruder, the case remains unresolved.
Family’s Ongoing Quest for Justice
Rachel’s parents, Kim and Todd Hansen, have tirelessly sought closure and justice since their daughter’s untimely death. They have yet to receive a medical examiner’s report or any resolution in the case. Kim Hansen expressed her frustration, stating, “Just the way she died made no sense to anybody, and we just can’t understand it because she was so young and full of life.”
The family believes that Rachel’s murder was not a random act, given the location of her apartment on the third floor in a corner, making it an unlikely target for a random break-in. Kim Hansen emphasized, “Someone knows something. This was not a random act. For a crime that significant, somebody else knows what happened and why. We are asking them to please, please, come forward.”
Community Support and Press Conference
In an effort to keep Rachel’s case in the public eye and encourage anyone with information to come forward, the Hansen family plans to hold a press conference on the fourth anniversary of her death. They hope to share memories of Rachel and renew attention to the case in hopes of finding new leads.
Rachel was remembered by her mother as a “horse whisperer, a go-getter, a girl who graduated high school at sixteen and was just getting started building her life.” The family’s commitment to finding justice for Rachel remains unwavering, with Kim Hansen stating, “I made a promise to my daughter that we would not give up, and we won’t.”
The Gilbert Police Department has not provided recent updates on the investigation, leaving the family and community still searching for answers.
