De Pere, Wis. — Anglers who cast their lines along the Fox River can look forward to a new stretch of shoreline at the Brown County Fairgrounds, thanks to a generous $5,000 donation made in memory of a beloved local fisherman.
Family honors Preston Yindra’s love of the outdoors
Scott Yindra presented the check to the Brown County Parks Department on September 3. The contribution honors his brother, Preston Yindra, who died unexpectedly in December of last year. The family says Preston was an avid fisherman who spent countless hours on the river, and that improving the fairgrounds’ shoreline would be a fitting tribute to his passion for the outdoors.
“Preston was all about fishing and the outdoors,” Scott Yindra said. “Having a place where people can get out on Preston’s Point and enjoy the river is almost the best way to honor his name.”
New spawning grounds to be developed
The donated funds will be used to create a new spawning ground and shoreline access area that will be named Preston’s Point. The Bay of Green Bay Chapter of Walleyes for Tomorrow, a regional conservation group, will oversee the development and ensure the habitat supports healthy fish populations.

Brown County Parks Department’s role
