As the last weekend of summer comes to a close, many families in Northwest Arkansas are finishing up their back-to-school shopping. For parents like Ashley Carver, getting her nine kids ready for their first day of class on Monday is a big task.
Back-to-School Preparations
Ashley stopped by Once Upon a Child in Bentonville with three of her kids on Sunday afternoon, hoping to find each of them the perfect back-to-school outfit. "We do most of our shopping at Once Upon a Child for all of our younger kids because they grow so fast, there’s no point in buying brand new when they’re just going to grow out of them in just a few weeks," Carver said.
As technology becomes a bigger part of the classroom, how she shops for the new school year is changing. "I feel like it used to be a bigger ordeal, like than now, because there’s less to buy," Carver said. "As far as school supplies goes for the older kids, we don’t have to buy anything because everything is on a Chromebook. So, you know, a couple pencils and pens and some paper, and that’s all they really need for the little ones."
