ESPN’s Jay Williams faced awkward ribbing from colleagues during the NBA Draft. Williams, Richard Jefferson, and Kenny Smith were among those covering the draft and offering their analysis.
Williams was chosen No. 2 overall by the Chicago Bulls in 2001, but his career was cut short due to a motorcycle crash. Smith admitted that Williams was an “unbelievable talent” but “his career trajectory would’ve been a lot different if he didn’t like motorcycles.”
Jefferson quipped, “I guess everybody that goes to Duke isn’t that smart,” after Williams mentioned that he wrote a book about his experiences. The exchange led to an awkward moment during the draft coverage.
