A group of 30 young women participated in the Lesley and Rhyan Prather Empowerment Camp, learning about different aspects of firefighting and inspired by Lesley Prather’s legacy as a firefighter.
Empowering Young Women
The camp, run by Lesley’s brother-in-law Terry Hall, aims to keep the girls busy, inspired, and empowered to dream big and create a community. The lessons learned during the camp will last a lifetime, regardless of whether they become firefighters or not.
The campers went on a field trip to the Ohio River, where they learned about life-saving work and experienced hands-on training. They also wore colored bibs, similar to those used in firefighter basic training, as a tribute to Lesley, who was known as ‘Purple Six’ during her training.
The Lesley and Rhyan Prather Foundation, established after the tragic death of Lesley and Rhyan Prather in a car accident, runs the camp and organizes events to raise money for it. The foundation’s goal is to inspire and empower young women to pursue their dreams and make a positive impact in their communities.
