Emails obtained by The Dallas Express reveal that the Southlake Foundation, led by Kush Rao, refused to pay funds raised for a Carroll ISD Special Olympics event in 2025.
Background
In April 2025, Carroll ISD Superintendent Jeremy Glenn contacted Rao to request clarification on the use of funds raised for the Special Olympics event. Glenn stated that one of the event’s sponsors, Coach Ashley Poteet, was informed that the foundation would not provide funding for the event.
Rao responded, stating that the funding request was submitted after the event had concluded and did not align with the foundation’s established process. Rao also listed several ways the foundation had supported Carroll ISD’s Special Olympics programs in 2024.
Follow-up
Glenn thanked Rao for the clarification but sought additional information on how funds raised specifically for Special Olympics would be allocated. Rao ultimately made a payment to Carroll ISD, but it was for much less than the amount raised on behalf of the Special Olympics event.
