Elon Musk has announced that his AI platform Grok Imagine will make a full-length, historically accurate film of the Odyssey in the coming months. Musk made the statement on his social media platform X, just days after Christopher Nolan’s blockbuster version of the ancient Greek epic was released in movie theaters around the world.
Musk’s Vision for the Odyssey
Musk’s post featured a link to a three-minute clip of a scene between the hero Odysseus and the nymph Calypso, as created by Grok Imagine. He replied to a user who suggested he fund Mel Gibson to film an Odyssey adaptation with historically accurate ships, armor, weapons, and casting, saying “I’m down”.
Musk has been critical of Nolan’s version of the epic, launching a scathing attack on the director for his casting decisions. Musk has repeatedly expressed his view that Nolan’s casting choices were made to meet “woke rules” and win an Oscar.
