CASPER, Wyo. — As the Aug. 18 primary election approaches, Oil City News is introducing candidate questionnaires to help voters make informed decisions at the ballot box. Elissa Campbell, a candidate for Wyoming House District 56, recently responded to a questionnaire about the challenges facing her constituents and her qualifications for office.
Challenges Facing Wyoming
Wyoming faces several challenges, including shrinking populations, increased cost of living, lack of affordable and accessible healthcare, lack of affordable and accessible housing, workforce shortages, and lack of economic development. Primary concerns Campbell hears from constituents are healthcare costs and access, the lack of job and career opportunities for youth and young families, rising costs of living without comparable increases in wages, and strains on local services due to reductions in tax revenue.
Addressing Challenges
If elected, Campbell plans to address these challenges by embracing change, saying yes to new business, and establishing policies that protect and promote Wyoming’s best interests. She will continue working to understand the complexities of these issues, building relationships, creating opportunities for public-private collaboration, and focusing on solutions that address Wyoming’s challenges.
Qualifications
Campbell was appointed to the Governor’s Wyoming Wildlife Task Force in 2020 and worked with legislators, commissioners, landowners, outfitters, sportsmen, and anglers. She learned the importance of understanding issues from a variety of perspectives, leaning on experts for guidance, and the critical importance of engaging those impacted by decisions made. Since being elected in 2024, Campbell has built a reputation as a legislator who listens, works hard, is an effective policymaker, and maintains transparent communication.
