The El Paso Zoo and Botanical Gardens had planned to celebrate the birthday of their two California sea lions, Delilah and Dichali, with a party open to the community. However, due to the triple-digit heat, the party has been postponed.
According to Grecia Alvarado, a zookeeper at the El Paso Zoo, the sea lions were not in the mood to party. ‘We’re not really in the mood of partying today, sadly. We’re not feeling very motivated today. We’re, like, super, super full today. We don’t, we’re not interested in training or interacting with our keepers. We just want, they just want to sleep today,’ Alvarado said.
The zoo plans to reschedule the party for a later date, possibly in a month or two, when the sea lions are more active and interested in participating.
