As summer approaches, El Paso Water is reminding residents to take steps to save water and reduce their summer bills. On average, every person uses 67 gallons of water per day in every household.
Simple Ways to Save Water
El Paso Water suggests taking shorter showers, no longer than five minutes, and turning off the water while brushing teeth to save 12 gallons a day. Running the dishwasher only when it’s full can also save 20 gallons a day.
Additionally, investing in new, water-saving appliances can provide rebates on water bills. El Paso Water offers various items, such as timers and water sense toilets, to help reduce water consumption.
With the city’s water resources, including the Rio Grande, Hueco, and Mesilla Bolson aquifers, being finite, it’s essential for residents to conserve water. About 40% of the city’s water is used for outdoor irrigation, swimming pools, and other outdoor uses.
