The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office (EPSO) is announcing a new program to help incarcerated individuals gain employment upon their release. According to EPSO, there is a new pathway for individuals to receive an industry-recognized construction flagging certification.
Program Details
The program will allow participants to gain skills in traffic control, workplace safety, and construction flagging operations through hands-on training. Incarcerated individuals who participate in the program will get a Colorado Department of Transportation flagger certification, which allows them to gain employment in construction and transportation-related fields, EPSO says.
Officials say the first five graduates of the program successfully earned their certificates. EPSO says it continues to invest in programs like this one that promote rehabilitation and public safety.
