El Paso standout Drew Gonzalez and New Mexico State Pitcher Jack Turner were selected in the 2026 Major League Baseball Draft. Gonzalez, a versatile infielder, was chosen by the New York Yankees in the 6th round with the 189th overall pick. Turner, a right-hander, was selected by the Detroit Tigers in the 10th round with the 306th overall pick.

The selections mark the beginning of the next chapter in their baseball journey and a proud moment for the Borderland Baseball Community. Gonzalez had a dominant senior season, slugging 13 home runs and driving in 54 runs, and earned first-team Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association All-State honors. Turner previously earned junior college first-team All-American honors at Suffolk County Community College in 2024.
