Investigation Underway
When officers arrived, they found a 56-year-old man lying next to an e-scooter. He died at the scene, police said. The preliminary investigation indicated the man — who was riding a GoTrax Apex Pro Commuting electric scooter and wearing a helmet — was traveling south against the flow of traffic when he lost control of the e-scooter while trying to get from the roadway to a driveway to access the sidewalk, the department said.
It’s unclear if drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash. Officials say no one else was involved in the incident. The department said its Major Accident Investigation Team took over the investigation.
