People living in parts of Arkansas and Oklahoma will have the opportunity to receive vouchers for e-bikes, thanks to a grant from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The vouchers, which can be worth up to $1,200, are part of an effort to reduce pollution in the region.
The vouchers will be available to residents of Benton, Crawford, Faulkner, Franklin, Grant, Lonoke, Madison, Perry, Pulaski, Saline, Sebastian, and Washington counties in Arkansas, as well as Le Flore and Sequoyah counties in Oklahoma. More than 5,800 people will be randomly selected from the applicants, and applications will open on July 6.
There are two types of vouchers available: a $700 voucher for anyone 18 or older with a state ID and proof of residency, and a $1,200 voucher for those living in households with an income of less than or equal to 200% of the federal poverty level. The vouchers can be redeemed at participating bike shops.
The program is administered by the Northwest Arkansas Regional Planning Commission, Central Arkansas’ Metroplan, and the City of Fort Smith. For more information, visit nwaprc.org.
