Early Saturday morning, agents from the North Carolina Alcohol Law Enforcement Division (ALE) carried out a search warrant at an alleged illegal nightclub on Dearborn Drive in Durham. The operation resulted in the arrest of six people and the seizure of a substantial amount of illegal substances, firearms, and unpermitted alcohol.
Charges filed against the arrested individuals
Among those taken into custody were Durham residents Angela Johanna Calderon Rodriguez, 29, and Luis Alberto Rodriguez, 22. Both face felony charges for trafficking cocaine, conspiracy to traffic cocaine, and maintaining a dwelling for controlled substances, as well as a misdemeanor for possessing or selling alcoholic beverages without a permit.
Four additional men were arrested:
- Enrique Doscamino, 40, of Durham – charged with felony possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine and methamphetamine, plus possession of drug paraphernalia.
- Josue Hostilio Caceres Rodriguez, 37, of Durham – charged with felony possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia.
- Kevin Chanas Rios, 25, of Raleigh – charged with felony possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia.
- Cesar Guillermo Raudales‑Matute, 54, of Durham – charged with felony possession of cocaine.
The investigation remains ongoing, and law‑enforcement officials indicated that additional charges may be filed as the case develops.
Items seized during the raid
Agents recovered 4.8 ounces of cocaine, eight grams of methamphetamine, five firearms, various forms of liquor, and cash. The presence of an operating bar without a proper license was also documented.
The raid underscores ALE’s continued focus on cracking down on unlicensed venues that combine illegal drug activity, unpermitted alcohol sales, and the possession of firearms. Such establishments pose a risk to public safety and violate both state alcohol regulations and criminal statutes.
Community impact and response
Durham residents have expressed concern about the presence of illegal nightclubs that operate outside the law, especially those that facilitate drug distribution and unregulated alcohol consumption. Local officials have reiterated the importance of enforcing state regulations to protect families and maintain community safety.
While the investigation proceeds, ALE encourages anyone with information about similar illegal operations to contact the division. The agency’s efforts are part of a broader initiative to uphold the rule of law, safeguard public health, and ensure that businesses operating in North Carolina comply with licensing requirements.
Authorities will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as further developments occur.
