Duke Energy says it is prepared for the increased electricity usage during this week’s heat wave and does not expect any brownouts.
Customers could see higher electric bills if they don’t change their home habits, according to Duke Energy spokesperson Logan Stewart. Stewart suggested that bumping up the thermostat a few degrees can make a big difference.
Staying Cool
Some people are turning to local establishments like Buffaloe Lanes South in Raleigh to escape the heat. Visitors say the bowling alley stays cool, even on the hottest days.
A local mother, Joyce Miller, brings a sweatshirt on hot days because of how cold it can be inside the bowling alley. “It’s nice and cool. It’s really worth it,” Miller said.
