Duke Energy Foundation has awarded $300,000 in grants to 32 organizations serving senior citizens in South Carolina. The funding will help expand housing, nutrition, and other essential services for the state’s older residents.

Eleven organizations in the Upstate received a grant from the Duke Energy Foundation, including Rebuild Upstate. Jake Beaty, CEO of Rebuild Upstate, said the grant funding will be used to repair homes for low-income, older adults in the local community.
“These critical funds will help us ensure our older adult neighbors can safely age-in-place at home by building accessibility ramps or installing grab bars for bathrooms at their residence,” Beaty said. “These repairs prevent accidents and promote dignity and independence.”
