Donate Unwanted Items to Denver Charities and Reduce Waste

Spring cleaning may be over, but Denver families still have items they no longer need. Several local nonprofits are accepting donations of new or gently used goods, giving those items a second life and supporting neighbors in need.

Swap Denver

Swap Denver hosts community swaps to reduce waste and make everyday necessities affordable. The next event is on September 20 at 3899 Jackson St., Building #4. Attendees may bring clothing, books, shoes, plants, music media, small art pieces, home goods, and art supplies. Tickets cost $15 for early registration, $25 on the day of the event, and $45 for VIP status. Any items left over are donated to local mutual‑aid groups, schools, nonprofits, art clubs, and little libraries.

The Gathering Place

The Gathering Place provides low‑barrier, trauma‑informed care to women, gender‑diverse people, and children experiencing homelessness. It accepts donations on a limited schedule—clothing from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on the first Wednesday of each month and other items during posted hours. Current top needs include menstrual products, non‑perishable tuna or chicken, canned soup, granola, snack bars, and coffee grounds. The organization celebrates its 40th anniversary on September 17 and is located at 1535 High St.

Hope House Colorado

Hope House Colorado serves teen mothers and welcomes donations during business hours at 6475 Benton St. in Arvada.

A Precious Child

Based in Broomfield, A Precious Child accepts clothing, dishware, bath towels, sports equipment, new backpacks, and other household items. Donated goods are placed in a donation center where referred families can pick up essentials for free. Drop‑offs occur during business hours at 7051 W. 118th Ave.

WeeCycle

WeeCycle matches donations of infant and toddler gear—cribs, car seats, diapers, formula, and other essentials—with families in need. Collections are held every Tuesday and Thursday and one Saturday each month at its warehouse at 5590 Joliet St., with additional pop‑up drives in neighborhoods.

Dress for Success Denver

Dress for Success Denver helps women achieve financial independence by providing professional attire and career coaching. New or gently used blazers, blouses, work bags, and other business clothing are accepted on select days; the next drop‑off is September 12 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 2594 S. Colorado Blvd.

SHE Leads Group

From May through August, SHE Leads Group collects new purses and fills them with personal‑care items for women who are victims of domestic violence or experiencing homelessness. Accepted items include travel‑size or full‑size hygiene products such as deodorant, toothbrushes, period kits, shampoo, conditioner, and razors.

ReCreative Denver

By appointment, ReCreative Denver gathers gently used and new craft supplies and resells them at 50 % or more off retail prices. The nonprofit is located at 765 Santa Fe Dr.

PCs for People

PCs for People recycles and refurbishes computers, keeping electronics out of landfills and providing low‑cost devices to individuals and nonprofits. Pick‑up is free; refurbished Linux desktops are $0, Windows desktops $30, and Windows laptops $50. The center is at 5095 Peoria St., with recycling hours 9 a.m.‑4 p.m. weekdays.

Habitat for Humanity ReStore

Habitat for Humanity ReStore accepts artificial Christmas trees, holiday décor, landscaping products, mirrors, and many other household items at its stores in Denver, Littleton, Arvada, and Aurora. Stores are open daily from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and a free pickup service is available. Proceeds support local homeownership programs.

Arc Thrift Stores

Arc Thrift Stores offers free residential furniture pickup for the Front Range. After scheduling, residents place the item on the ground outside and label it “A‑R‑C.” Arc also accepts clothing, housewares, toys, and electronics at its numerous locations.

These options give Denver residents practical ways to declutter responsibly while supporting families, nonprofits, and the environment.
