In a decisive move to maintain essential healthcare services, Doña Ana County’s Board of County Commissioners approved an emergency contract with Thrive Medical Services LLC. The contract, valued at $4,489,375, was awarded during a meeting on June 2nd, following the bankruptcy declaration of the current provider, YesCare, in May.
Ensuring Continuity of Care
Commissioner Christopher Schaljo-Hernandez emphasized the importance of uninterrupted healthcare services for detainees, stating, “Health care services for our detainees at the Detention Center is a big priority for us.” The emergency procurement allows the county to continue providing these critical services while seeking a more permanent solution.
The contract with Thrive Medical Services is effective immediately, with the company set to collaborate with YesCare to ensure a smooth transition. This transition period is expected to last between four to ten days, during which Thrive will assume full responsibility for medical and mental health services at the facility.
Looking Ahead
Doña Ana County is actively working to secure a long-term medical provider for the Detention Center. This proactive approach highlights the county’s commitment to the well-being of its detainees and the importance of reliable healthcare services within correctional facilities.
