New Mexico State University is reviving the Domenici Public Policy Conference after an eight-year hiatus. The conference, scheduled for September 8-9, 2026, at the Las Cruces Convention Center, will feature policy and political leaders, including UTEP President Heather Wilson and U.S. Senator Ben Ray Lujan.

The conference will include discussions on artificial intelligence, national security, and geopolitics of energy. Online registration is available at nmsu.edu/domenici, and the cost to register is $50. The event is free to university students, but they must register.
NMSU President Valerio Ferme said, ‘Universities play a pivotal role in stimulating and facilitating the kinds of discussions that shape policy, engage our citizenry, and spark curiosity and passion in our students.’ Former Governor and NMSU President Garrey Carruthers helped identify speakers and plan the event’s return.
The conference has a prestigious 11-year legacy of being a catalyst for the region. Bringing it back to NMSU gives students and the broader community an opportunity to engage directly with leading voices in public policy and to be part of conversations that extend well beyond the campus.
