DFW Transportation Updates

Several transportation projects are currently underway in the DFW area, aiming to improve the region’s infrastructure and reduce congestion. One of the major projects is the widening of FM 1515, which will be expanded from two lanes to six lanes, divided by a median. The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is overseeing the project, with crews currently relocating water and wastewater utilities ahead of the road widening.

Project Details

The FM 1515 widening project is expected to be completed in March 2027, with a cost of $69.48 million. The funding source for the project is still to be determined. Additionally, the city of McKinney is reconstructing and widening Medical Center Drive between Frisco Road and Spur 399, which will become a continuous four-lane divided roadway.

Other projects in the area include the reconstruction of CR 52 from West Outer Loop to FM 428, which will add an asphalt overlay and underground drainage upgrades. The city of Celina is overseeing this project, which is expected to be completed by November 2026. The city of Plano is also undertaking sewer improvements from Coit Road to Independence Parkway, with a completion date set for spring 2027.

In Frisco, the city council has approved a $2.16 million contract for the reconstruction of Meadow Hill Drive, which will include the addition of two roundabouts and drainage and culvert improvements. The project is currently underway and is expected to be completed by mid-2027.
