The Hudson-Webber Foundation has awarded $3.6 million in grants to 11 nonprofit, civic, and public-sector partners in Detroit and across Michigan. The grants will support arts and culture, neighborhood development, economic opportunity, public policy, and community safety initiatives.
Local Recipients
The Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCAD) will receive $200,000 to support its core operations and expand programming and community engagement. The Detroit Sound Conservancy (DSC) will get $100,000 to support the redevelopment of the historic Blue Bird Inn as a neighborhood music venue and cultural institution.
The Blue Bird Inn, a former jazz club, will be transformed into a safe, accessible, and active community destination. The DSC is a community-based archive dedicated to enhancing Detroiters’ quality of life through preservation, education, performance, and placekeeping.
Other grant recipients include Business Leaders for Michigan, Michigan Future, Inc., The Michigan Nonprofit Association, and the Michigan Justice Fund.
