Florida Governor Ron DeSantis announced that nearly 100,000 state employees will be off for five days during the Fourth of July holiday weekend, which this year marks America’s 250th anniversary of its independence.
State Offices Closed July 2-6
State offices will be closed on Thursday, July 2 and Monday, July 6, in addition to the regular state holiday observance of the holiday on Friday, July 3. DeSantis said, “America’s 250th anniversary is a historic milestone and an opportunity to reflect on the courage, sacrifice, and enduring principles that established the United States as the freest and most prosperous nation in the world.”
DeSantis has closed offices more during other holidays. On Christmas and New Year’s Day, DeSantis closed offices one day later on Friday. For Thanksgiving, employees were off Wednesday, Thursday and Friday that week.
