A pedestrian is in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle in Des Moines. The incident was reported Thursday morning on East Watrous Avenue, which has been closed between Southeast Third Street and Southeast Fifth Street for investigation.

According to the Des Moines Police Department, an adult male pedestrian is in critical condition due to the crash. Police are directing drivers in the area to use East Park Avenue as the nearest east/west alternate route.
