The city of Denton is currently working on multiple transportation projects to enhance its infrastructure. One of the major projects is the widening of FM 1515 from two lanes to six lanes, which will be divided by a median. The Texas Department of Transportation is overseeing the project, with crews relocating water and wastewater utilities ahead of the road widening.
Upcoming Projects
Other projects include the rebuild of Redstone Road, which involves replacing the waterline, sewer, curb, gutter, and portions of the sidewalk. The project is part of the Neighborhood 1B bond package approved by voters in 2019. Additionally, Bonnie Brae Street is undergoing a seven-phase renovation to create additional lanes and a mixed-use path along the roadway.
Donna Road will also receive new water and sewer lines, curb, gutter, a total roadway replacement, and partial sidewalk reconstruction. Furthermore, crews are extending the waterlines along the roadway as part of the development for The Renegade, a multifamily housing development in downtown Denton.
The projects are expected to be completed at various times, with the FM 1515 widening project scheduled to start accepting bids in March 2027. The total cost for the projects ranges from $782,138 for the Donna Road project to $69.48 million for the FM 1515 widening project.
