A church on West Street in Danbury partially collapsed on Thursday, according to the Danbury Fire Department.
Firefighters were called to 26 West St. around 4:30 p.m. after a caller reported a partial collapse of the building. When they arrived, they found that a large part of the church had collapsed. No one was trapped in the building, and no one was injured, firefighters said.
Eversource secured the building’s electrical and natural gas services, according to firefighters. The Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the collapse, and the church’s owners are working with contractors to stabilize the remaining part of the structure.
