A Dallas Police sergeant has been placed on administrative leave after being accused of stealing intimate photos from a female officer’s phone. According to the Dallas Police Women’s Association, Sgt. Daylon L. Grandberry took a subordinate female officer’s phone and sent ‘intimate’ images to his own phone.
Incident Details
The DPWA alleges Grandberry memorized the officer’s phone password and told her he would ‘download a game’ onto her phone before accessing password-protected photos. The female officer later noticed Grandberry was her last contact when she had not messaged him recently. Grandberry allegedly sent himself the photos twice, claiming the access was accidental.
The Dallas Police Department says Grandberry received a 15-day suspension for the privacy violation. However, the DPWA called the suspension a ‘slap on the wrist’ and demanded ‘serious, tangible change’ to the department.
‘The Dallas Police Department’s handling of this, and other incidents, exhibits an appalling disregard for workplace ethics and fosters a toxic environment that devalues female officers,’ the DPWA stated.
