Dallas Fire-Rescue medics are still waiting to be paid for their work at Fair Park events last year. The company hired by the city of Dallas to manage Fair Park, Oak View Group, owes tens of thousands of dollars to the medics.
Unpaid Wages
According to a list obtained by FOX 4, more than 50 medics are owed a total of $27,504, with individual medics owed amounts ranging from $200 to over $1,500. The city of Dallas cut ties with Oak View Group last summer after an audit found that money allocated for building a park was being used for operating expenses.
Despite the city canceling its contract with Oak View Group, many medics continued to work at events scheduled by the company through August. A spokesperson for Dallas Fire-Rescue said the department’s leadership has requested payment from Oak View Group’s management, but those requests have gone unanswered.
The president of the Dallas Firefighters Association, Chris Peterson, expressed frustration over the lack of urgency in paying the first responders. “I think if we could figure out how to get the city to pay the $27,000 and then just add this back into the lawsuit, I think this solves our members’ problems,” he said.
