Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley is ending his campaign for Wisconsin governor. Crowley, a Democrat, announced his decision on Wednesday, stating that it has become clear he will not be the Democratic nominee for Governor.
Crowley’s Statement
Crowley said in a statement, “It has become clear that I will not be the Democratic nominee for Governor, so today I am stepping out of this race, but I am not stepping away from the work.” He emphasized that politics should be about showing up, working with anyone who wants to solve problems, and delivering results people can see in their own communities.
The end of Crowley’s campaign leaves five candidates in the Democratic primary race: Lt. Gov. Sara Rodriguez, State Rep. Francesca Hong, State Sen. Kelda Roys, former Department of Administration secretary Joel Brennan, and former Lt. Gov. Mandela Barnes. The winner of the August 11 primary will face presumptive Republican nominee Tom Tiffany in November.
