Controversial Streamer Hasan Piker Mocks White House Shooting Incident

In a recent incident near the White House, a shooting took place at a security checkpoint, drawing attention from various media outlets and public figures. Among them was Hasan Piker, a far-left Twitch streamer known for his controversial opinions. Piker took to social media to make sarcastic comments about the event, sharing a viral video of ABC News correspondent Selina Wang ducking for cover during the gunfire.

Sarcastic Remarks and Ballroom Criticism

Piker’s comments extended to mocking the construction of a new White House Ballroom, a project that has been emphasized for its security benefits, especially after a recent assassination attempt on President Donald Trump at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner. Piker’s posts on platforms like X and TikTok questioned the necessity of the ballroom, suggesting that its presence would somehow deter future attacks.

The shooting, which occurred shortly after 6 p.m. near 17th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue NW, involved an alleged gunman identified as Nasire Best. Best reportedly fired shots toward a Secret Service booth before officers returned fire, resulting in his death. Best, a 21-year-old from Maryland, had a history of encounters with law enforcement and mental health issues. A bystander was also wounded during the incident, though it remains unclear who fired the shot that struck them. Fortunately, no Secret Service agents were injured.

Security Measures and Political Reactions

President Trump, who was inside the White House at the time working on Iran peace talks, was briefed on the situation. He later thanked the Secret Service and law enforcement officers for their swift response. Trump also reiterated the importance of the new ballroom as a secure space for presidential operations and large gatherings, especially in light of recent security concerns.

In addition to his comments on the shooting, Piker is also involved in a federal investigation regarding potential violations of U.S. sanctions laws. The Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control has issued subpoenas to Piker and others as part of an inquiry into whether U.S. activists violated laws by supporting Cuba’s communist regime.

The White House has not yet responded to requests for comment on these developments.
