Construction to Begin on New Caney Dog Park and Community Amenities

New Caney, Texas – Residents can look forward to a new outdoor gathering space as the East Montgomery County Improvement District (EMCID) prepares to start construction on the first phase of its multi‑phase park project. The work is slated to begin in November on a 200‑acre parcel within the city.

Phase 1 Details

Phase 1 will deliver a long‑awaited dog park covering 32,856 square feet, providing a safe, fenced area where four‑legged family members can play off‑leash. In addition to the canine facility, the district has planned 33 parking spaces, public restrooms, and a future children’s playground that will be added later in the phase.

EMCID selected HD Outdoor Construction to serve as the amenity builder for this initial stage. The contractor will handle site preparation, landscaping, and the installation of the park’s core features.

Community Impact

“Creating quality outdoor spaces is an investment in our community,” said Frank McCrady, EMCID’s president and CEO, in the district’s news release. “This park is designed to provide a place where families, including their four‑legged family members, can gather and enjoy the outdoors.” The project reflects EMCID’s broader goal of enhancing recreational opportunities for residents while supporting healthy, family‑focused lifestyles.

Local families have expressed enthusiasm for the upcoming amenities. Many anticipate that the new dog park will relieve pressure on existing facilities and provide a dedicated space for pet owners to socialize safely. The planned playground will later give children a modern, accessible area for play, further cementing the park’s role as a community hub.

Future Phases

While Phase 1 focuses on the dog park and essential infrastructure, the district’s long‑term vision includes additional amenities such as sports fields, walking trails, and picnic areas. These later phases will be developed as funding becomes available and community input continues to shape the park’s evolution.

EMCID encourages residents to stay informed about project milestones and upcoming public meetings where they can share ideas and feedback. Updates will be posted on the district’s website and through local news outlets.

How Residents Can Get Involved

Community members interested in learning more or offering input can contact EMCID directly via their website or attend the next public information session, scheduled for early December. Volunteers are also welcome to assist with future park clean‑up events once the facilities open.

The new park promises to become a vibrant gathering place for New Caney families, reinforcing the city’s commitment to quality outdoor recreation and strengthening the bonds that make the community thrive.
