Connecticut Celebrates Independence Day and America’s 250th Anniversary

As America approaches its 250th anniversary, towns across Connecticut are gearing up for a series of celebrations to mark Independence Day. From fireworks displays to concerts, residents can look forward to a variety of festivities throughout July.

July 4th Celebrations

On July 4th, Hartford will host its annual Bonanza and America 250 Capital Commemoration at Bushnell Park, featuring a free concert at 7:30 p.m. followed by fireworks at 9:30 p.m. In addition, the Great American Boom celebration will take place at Walnut Hill Park, with fireworks starting at 9:15 p.m.

Other notable events on July 4th include a fireworks display at Quassy Amusement Park as part of the town’s 4th of July Beach Party, and a Patriotic Tailgating Contest at Weston Middle School field, where fireworks will begin at 9:20 p.m.

Additional Festivities

Several towns will kick off their celebrations earlier in the month. On July 2nd, fireworks will light up the sky at Binney Park and Greenwich Point Park, with a rain date set for July 11th. West Wharf Beach will also host a display starting at 9:30 p.m.

On July 3rd, Jennings Beach and Penfield Beach will feature fireworks at 9:15 p.m., while Norwich Harbor will close out its day of festivities, including food trucks and music, with a fireworks display.

Mid-July Events

For those looking to extend their celebrations, the Celebrate East Lyme Festival will occur on July 18th, concluding with a fireworks display at 9:30 p.m. Additionally, the James “Dutch” Fogarty Independence Day Celebration will take place on July 11th, with fireworks at dusk and a rain date of July 12th.

These events offer families and communities a chance to come together in celebration of both Independence Day and America’s milestone anniversary, reflecting the values of faith, family, and freedom that are cherished by many.
