A man who barricaded himself for several hours inside a Compton house was taken into custody Monday morning, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Sheriff’s SWAT deputies were deployed to North Willow Avenue near North Santa Fen Avenue at around 5:45 a.m. when they received a call about an armed man. When authorities initially spotted the man, he took off on foot and went into a nearby garage, the sheriff’s department told NBCLA.
During the standoff, the immediate neighborhood had to be evacuated. Finally at around 11:15 a.m., the suspect was taken into custody, and the evacuated neighbors were allowed to return home, the sheriff’s department said.
