Columbus marked a milestone Fourth of July weekend in style, joining communities across the nation in celebrating America’s 250th anniversary with a festive Friday parade and a dazzling fireworks show along the Chattahoochee riverfront.
On Friday, July 3, Columbus took to the streets for a parade honoring the America 250 commemoration — a once-in-a-generation occasion marking two and a half centuries of American independence. The event gave residents of all ages a chance to come together and celebrate the nation’s history right in the heart of the Fountain City.
As night fell, the Columbus and Phenix City riverfront lit up with fireworks in what WRBL described as “an important tradition” that the community continues to cherish year after year. The shared celebration between the two sister cities along the Chattahoochee has become a beloved hallmark of the Fourth of July season for families on both sides of the river.
Whether lining the parade route or gathering along the riverbank to watch the fireworks reflect off the water, Columbus residents had plenty of reasons to feel proud and festive this Independence Day weekend.
