Liga MX side CF Monterrey is finalizing a deal to acquire Columbus Crew star Diego Rossi, according to The Athletic. The Crew will receive a transfer fee of up to $8 million for the 28-year-old Uruguayan forward, who is a four-time MLS All-Star and former Golden Boot winner who helped Columbus win the MLS Cup in 2023.
Rossi has six goals and two assists in 15 MLS matches this season. He has scored 51 goals across all competitions since joining the Crew from Turkey’s Fenerbahce in 2023. Rossi previously played for Los Angeles FC from 2018-22.
The move would give the Crew two designated player vacancies, with striker Wessam Abou Ali on the season-ending injured list with a torn ACL. Columbus entered the FIFA World Cup break in 10th place in the Eastern Conference, two points below the playoff line.
