The Cornell Lab of Ornithology’s Project FeederWatch compiled a list of the most common birds seen near feeders in Colorado. The data was collected from 197 count sites in the state between April 18 and April 30.
Top Birds in Colorado
The top five birds seen in Colorado are the House Finch, American Robin, Black-capped Chickadee, Eurasian Collared-Dove, and Northern Flicker. These birds were seen at 82%, 66%, 63%, 59%, and 56% of the count sites, respectively.
The data also shows that the House Finch was seen in the highest percentage of sites in New Mexico, Utah, Arizona, Indiana, and Delaware. The American Robin was seen in the highest percentage of sites in South Dakota, Nebraska, Kentucky, Illinois, and Iowa.
The Project FeederWatch is a citizen science project that collects data on birds at feeders. The project was founded in Ontario in 1976 and has since partnered with the Cornell Lab of Ornithology to scale the project across the US and Canada.
