Seven miles of new trails are opening in Colorado Springs this weekend. The city says the Blodgett Open Space is opening after more than a year of construction, and is meant to provide sustainable trails while protecting wildlife habitats.
The new trails will feature two and a half miles of downhill bike-only trails, four miles of multi-use trails, and a new trailhead with 50 spaces, according to officials. More construction is taking place later this year in the north and central parts of the open space, with another seven miles planned to open by the end of the year according to the city.
Blodgett Open Space will be open daily from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. The trail officially opens Friday, July 17.
