College Station Museum Unveils Revolutionary War Banknote Exhibit

The College Station museum, a staple in the community since 2001, has unveiled a new exhibit featuring a collection of 28 original banknotes from the Colonial and Revolutionary War era. These historical artifacts once played crucial roles in paying soldiers, purchasing supplies, and circulating through homes, farms, and businesses during one of America’s most pivotal periods.

The exhibit’s opening on June 3 was marked by a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by local veterans and residents of Aggieland, celebrating the museum’s commitment to preserving the memory of America’s fallen soldiers. Royce Hickman, the community liaison for the BCS Chamber of Commerce, commended Executive Director Leisha Mullins for the museum’s dedication and positive impact on the community.

Exhibit Details and Upcoming Events

The banknote exhibition will be available for viewing until August 2, coinciding with the commemoration of the U.S. semiquincentennial. Additionally, the museum will host an event on the weekend of June 6 to remember the D-Day Normandy Landings of World War II. Attendees will have the opportunity to experience history firsthand by firing a clip of blanks from a WWII-era M1 Garand firearm.

The museum is located at 19124 Hwy 6, College Station, and more information can be found on their website at www.americangimuseum.org.
