Coastal Carolina Alum Stars in ‘The Notebook’ Musical at Greenville’s Peace Center

Connor Richardson, a graduate of Coastal Carolina University, is bringing his talents back to the region as part of the national tour of ‘The Notebook: The Musical.’ The production will be staged at the Peace Concert Hall in Greenville from June 9 to June 14.

A Journey from Coastal Carolina to Broadway

Richardson, who completed his studies in 2024, quickly found success in the theater world. Less than a year after graduation, he landed a role in the first national tour of ‘The Notebook,’ a musical adaptation of Nicholas Sparks’ beloved novel. The musical premiered on Broadway in 2024 and has been touring the country, with Richardson playing the character Johnny, a role created specifically for the stage adaptation.

The musical, known for its emotional depth, explores themes of love and memory, with Alzheimer’s disease being a central element of the storyline. Richardson’s character provides comic relief while also developing a meaningful relationship with the character Noah, portrayed at different ages by three actors. This unique approach adds layers to the narrative, showing the enduring choices of love throughout life.

Personal Connections and Local Ties

For Richardson, the story holds personal significance, as his grandmother passed away from Alzheimer’s disease. This connection adds a layer of authenticity to his performance. Originally from Nashville, Richardson was drawn to Coastal Carolina University through recommendations and found the faculty to be instrumental in his development as an actor.

Now based in New York, Richardson has been touring with the show for nine months, enjoying the opportunity to explore new cities. He has fond memories of Greenville from his time at Coastal Carolina and is excited to return to the area.

The Peace Center’s staging of ‘The Notebook: The Musical’ offers local audiences a chance to experience this heartfelt story, with tickets ranging from $71 to $121.50. For more information, visit peacecenter.org or call 864-467-3000.
