The Cincinnati Bearcats are just a few weeks away from kicking off the 2026 college football season and will do so with a much different roster than last season.
Quarterback JC French IV Leads the Team
Cincinnati is replacing a lot of production on the offensive side of the ball, most notably at quarterback, where JC French IV is stepping in after Brendan Sorsby’s departure. A two-year starter at Georgia Southern, French has completed 65 percent of his passes for 5,882 yards and 38 touchdown passes since 2023.
French brings experience to the Bearcats as a fifth-year quarterback and that hasn’t been lost on Cincinnati head coach Scott Satterfield. “I think he’s real calm when he’s out on the field,” Satterfield said of French. “It’s chaotic, hectic, lot of things going on and it doesn’t bother him. I really like how his poise is and his demeanor, and how he goes out and plays. I thought he had some good snaps today, some good passes.”
After Wednesday’s practice, French said this Bearcats offense is connected and said he feels comfortable already as the leader of the offense. “We’ve been putting all this hard work in for the past couple months, and I feel like we gelled as a team and connected really well, so I feel like we’re all a part of it,” French said.
Cincinnati will open the upcoming season at home on Sept. 5, hosting Boston College.
