Christian Pulisic Celebrates Goal and Hometown Roots in Charlotte

Christian Pulisic, often hailed as “Captain America” for the U.S. men’s national soccer team (USMNT), recently celebrated a significant goal against Senegal in a World Cup friendly match held at Charlotte’s Bank of America Stadium. The goal, which put the U.S. team up 2-0, marked Pulisic’s first score of 2026 and his first for the national team since 2024.

A Celebration Beyond the Goal

Pulisic’s exuberant celebration, which included a roaring scream, was not just about ending his scoring drought. It was a moment filled with emotion, reflecting both the pressure and excitement of playing on home soil as the World Cup approaches. “Honestly, yeah, scoring after a while. But also, just being in the U.S. and knowing that we have this moment in front of us, it’s such a crazy opportunity. It seems surreal,” Pulisic expressed.

The crowd in Charlotte played a crucial role in energizing the team. Pulisic noted the extra support from the fans, which he described as a driving force for the players. “Just the fans in Charlotte, and it feels like there’s that extra bit of support. It just drives us so much, it helps so much when we’re playing,” he said.

Preparing for the World Cup

As the USMNT prepares for their World Cup match against Paraguay on June 12, Pulisic emphasized the importance of team chemistry and preparation. Despite the pressure, he remains grateful for the opportunity to compete at this level. “Everyone has pressure. It’s in the World Cup. It is what it is,” he explained. “We have a pretty good team we get to go to battle with and we’re going to do the best we can and come out with good results.”

A Hometown Hero

Beyond the field, Pulisic’s roots in Hershey, Pennsylvania, are being celebrated through a partnership with Hershey’s chocolate. The company is launching limited-edition PULISIC’S Milk Chocolate Bars, featuring wrappers with his signature. Pulisic fondly recalled his childhood in Hershey, where the scent of chocolate was a constant presence. “Just being a kid from Hershey, Pennsylvania. Growing up there, living chocolate, breathing chocolate, smelling the chocolate from my house. It’s incredible,” he shared.

The chocolate bars will be available starting June 6, with giveaways planned at Hershey’s Chocolate World and Times Square.
