A Choctaw organization surprised Mayor Chad Allcox, a Marine Corps veteran, with a flagpole in his front yard to recognize his service and advocacy for veterans. The flagpole now stands in the front yard of the Allcox home.
Service and Advocacy
Allcox served on two combat tours in the Middle East and faced challenges upon returning home, including mental health struggles and substance abuse. He fought to rebuild his life and shifted his focus to giving back, advocating for veterans, and making mental health a key part of his platform.
The ceremony was described as powerful and emotional, with one biker remarking that ‘days like today are why we wear sunglasses.’ Allcox said the surprise flagpole was deeply meaningful to him, stating, ‘It means the absolute world that everyone came out to support me. Being mayor for the city and always looking out for others and trying to do things. I don’t do things for recognition. It was very emotional, having friends, family, other veterans here, and our first responders with the fire department rolling through at the beginning. It made me speechless,’
