A child was found dead in a black SUV parked outside A World of Discovery Academy preschool in Plantation, Florida, on Monday evening. The preschool is located on Northwest 4th Street and 70th Terrace in Plantation.
Police roped off the area just before 6 p.m. as detectives carefully collected evidence from the vehicle. The medical examiner’s office arrived at the scene to assist with the investigation.
A school leader stated that the incident involves a student but does not directly involve the school. Instead, it is being investigated as a parent-child situation. Authorities confirmed that someone called for help, leading Plantation Fire Rescue and police to respond to the preschool parking lot, where they confirmed the child was deceased in the vehicle.
Viviana Alarcon, who works nearby, expressed concern for the family and parents who have children attending the school. The investigation is ongoing to determine what happened.
