Tattoo Factory, an Uptown mainstay, is celebrating 50 years in business and plans to honor the occasion with promotions and discounts all year long. The shop, located at 4441 N. Broadway, is believed to be the second-oldest tattoo parlor in Chicago.
A Legacy of Ink
Owner Paul Collurafici has kept the business afloat and maintained the studio’s old school tattoo parlor atmosphere while doing what he can to keep up with the times. This includes adding a tavern in the storefront neighboring the parlor, called Drink & Ink, to accommodate the social outings getting a tattoo have become.
Collurafici’s older brother, Pete, founded the shop — briefly called Pete’s Tattoo Studio. As the younger brother, Collurafici worked at the shop and eventually took over after his brother died in a motorcycle accident in 1996. He’s run the business ever since, and has now been at the helm longer than his brother was.
Celebrating 50 Years
To celebrate the business’ 50th birthday, Tattoo Factory is offering weekly promotions, including Hump Day Happy Hour, where tattoos are 15 percent off between 5 p.m.-midnight every Wednesday, and giveaways for concerts and Riot Fest tickets.
On July 17, also known as National Tattoo Day, the shop will offer 15 percent off tattoos, a free drink at Drink & Ink, and other discounts and giveaways.
